Salary: $130000 – $160000
Legal Counsel Bilingual Mandarin
Prepare and /or review credit documentation, liaise with counsel regarding document preparation to ensure the quality of the documents is satisfactory, and assist in execution and / or implementation of same.
- Provide assistance to the Relationship Managers in negotiations with credit customers in connection with credit documentation;
- Prepare / review internal standard form documentation and manage the use of the standard form documentation;
- Manage and coordinate with external counsel when necessary;
- Assist with litigation and disputes, particularly on non-performing credit asset workouts;
- Assist with development and update of Risk Management’s policies and procedures;
- Coach and mentor junior members of Risk Management Department when necessary;
- Manage legal cases on behalf of branch
- Update legal log, responses to opposing counsel inquiries;
- Work with compliance team to conduct searches and draft responses to opposing counsel inquiries;
- Liaison with Home office and provide legal case updates to legal department at Head office; draft Memos to Head office regarding on-going cases; Draft memos to Home office upon request;
- Liaison with external counsel when necessary regarding litigation;
- Other matters as assigned by the SVP, Head of Risk Management and senior management of the Branch;
- Identify legal and regulatory risks/issues in transactions and advise on solutions to mitigate such risks/issues;
- Provide legal advice and assistance across a range of products and teams;
Ideal candidate should have:
- At least a Bachelor Degree in Law
- Ideal candidate should have 5+yrs of experience in legal work.
- Active NY State Bar license
Other skills:
- Chinese language proficiency skills will be a plus;
Depending on experience & skill
($130,000 – $160,000)
