Position Summary

As a Commercial Senior Client Manager, you’ll serve as a trusted advisor to clients while partnering closely with Risk Advisors (Producers) to manage complex commercial insurance programs. You’ll oversee renewals, negotiate with carriers, develop marketing strategies, review insurance contracts, and provide technical guidance to both clients and internal team members.

This role requires exceptional commercial insurance knowledge, strong relationship management skills, and the ability to independently manage sophisticated client accounts from renewal through placement.


Key Responsibilities

Client Management

  • Serve as the primary service contact for assigned commercial insurance clients.
  • Develop trusted long-term relationships with clients and carrier partners.
  • Lead client meetings, renewal presentations, and coverage reviews.
  • Support Producers in retaining and expanding client relationships.

Marketing & Carrier Negotiations

  • Manage new business and renewal marketing efforts.
  • Develop marketing strategies alongside Producers and Executive Client Managers.
  • Prepare comprehensive insurance submissions.
  • Negotiate coverage terms, pricing, and policy enhancements with underwriters.
  • Coordinate renewal timelines and placement activities.

Technical Insurance Expertise

  • Analyze complex commercial insurance programs.
  • Review Statements of Values, schedules, contracts, leases, and Certificates of Insurance.
  • Evaluate underwriting data, including:
    • Experience Modification Ratings
    • Loss Ratios
    • Loss Runs
    • Audit Dispute Resolution
    • Risk Management Surveys
  • Identify coverage gaps and recommend risk management solutions.

Risk Management & Client Advisory

  • Partner with Risk Control on significant claims and loss control issues.
  • Review contractual insurance requirements for compliance.
  • Advise clients regarding insurance coverage, contractual obligations, and risk management best practices.
  • Maintain strong relationships with insurance carriers and underwriting partners.

Leadership

  • Mentor junior Client Managers and support staff.
  • Provide technical guidance and training.
  • Share best practices and contribute to a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

Required

  • Active California Property & Casualty Insurance License (or ability to obtain).
  • 5+ years of Commercial Insurance Client Management experience.
  • Experience managing middle-market commercial insurance accounts.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial insurance coverages and policy structures.
  • Experience marketing new and renewal business to insurance carriers.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and client relationship skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.

Preferred

  • Professional designations such as CPCU, CIC, CRM, ARM, or CISR.
  • Experience reviewing contracts, leases, and Certificates of Insurance.
  • Experience working directly with commercial insurance underwriters.
  • Leadership or mentoring experience.
  • Experience independently conducting client meetings and renewal presentations.
