LC Specialist – Middle Office (Open-Ended Temporary Assignment)
Location: Midtown Manhattan, New York, NY
Employment Type: Temporary / Open-Ended Contract
Work Schedule: Onsite (5 days in office)
About the Opportunity
Our client, a well-established foreign bank with a U.S. presence in Midtown Manhattan, is seeking an experienced LC Specialist to join its Middle Office team on an open-ended temporary basis.
This role will support complex Letter of Credit (LC) activity while also providing Middle Office backup coverage. The position is ideal for a seasoned banking operations professional who thrives in a structured, highly regulated environment and can operate independently with minimal oversight.
Key Responsibilities
Letter of Credit (LC) Operations

Review and validate LC documentation, including acceptable terms and language (in coordination with Legal as needed)

Execute LCs, amendments, and term conversions

Coordinate with fronting/advising banks and ensure proper SWIFT setup and message release

Manage LC invoices to borrowers and oversee fee payments to fronting banks

Monitor LC draws and coordinate liquidity with Treasury

Provide operational memos for Avaloq system booking

Monitor LC limits, availability, and compliance requirements
-
Coordinate payoff, maturity, and closing of LC limits in Avaloq
-
Act as Bilateral LC Agent and support agency-related functions
Administrative & Oversight Functions

Maintain LC tracking overviews and credit line monitoring for fronting banks

Review Credit Agreements (CA), Facility Agreements (FA), and amendments for LC-related impact

Monitor ratings triggers and compliance items
-
Coordinate incoming/outgoing settlement instructions

Assist with customer data tasks and Fed pledged loan reporting (backup coverage)

Support department members as needed
What We’re Looking For
-
8+ years of experience in banking operations, trade finance, or LC administration
-
Strong understanding of Letter of Credit lifecycle and documentation
-
Experience coordinating with Legal, Treasury, Settlements, and Lending teams
-
Working knowledge of SWIFT messaging

Experience with Avaloq (strongly preferred)

Ability to manage projects independently
-
Strong attention to detail and regulatory awareness
-
Comfortable working in a highly structured, foreign bank environment
