Settlements Specialist – Operations

About the Role
Our client, a well-established foreign bank with a New York branch, is seeking a Settlements Specialist to join its Operations & Settlements team. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented operations professional who enjoys working across multiple financial products in a fast-paced, highly regulated banking environment.
You will play a key role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of settlements across securities, derivatives, money markets, and foreign exchange, while working closely with Treasury and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities

Process and settle a variety of financial products, including:

Interest Rate Swaps
-
Securities purchases and sales
-
Certificates of Deposit (CDs) and Commercial Paper trades

Review, process, and confirm FX, money market, derivative, and securities transactions.

Enter and verify SWIFT payments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with OFAC regulations.

Monitor daily account positioning across multiple currencies.

Partner with Treasury to ensure accurate Nostro account balances.

Reconcile and validate trade confirmations using industry utilities and internal systems.

Support day-to-day operational controls and assist with additional assignments as directed by management.
What We’re Looking For
-
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.

2–4 years of experience in financial services operations, settlements, or trade support.

Working knowledge of:
-
SWIFT messaging
-
Securities and settlement processes
-
Industry utilities such as DTCC, Euroclear, or similar platforms

Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple transactions simultaneously.

Comfortable working as an individual contributor in a regulated banking environment.

Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with internal teams.
