Collections Manager
Located in northern New Jersey
Base salary $75K-96K depending on skills and experience
Overview:
The Collections Manager will lead efforts to resolve delinquent loan payments and issues with deposit accounts for a credit union. The role involves managing collection activities across consumer, real estate, and commercial loans (including SBA loans), enforcing policies, mitigating losses, and leading a collections team.
Key Responsibilities:

Handle delinquent loans and negative deposit accounts, including fraud and charge-offs

Recommend and manage repossessions, foreclosures, loan modifications, and legal actions

Ensure compliance with collection policies, procedures, and regulations

Skip tracing, reporting, and maintaining collection systems (e.g., CarmPro)

Liaise with attorneys and executive management regarding legal and high-risk matters

Analyze delinquency trends and prepare reports for the Chief Lending Officer (CLO)

Supervise collection staff and oversee department performance metrics (KPIs)

Identify technology improvements and evaluate vendors for efficiency gains
Requirements:

5+ years in collections, including at least 1 year in a managerial role

Background in a bank or credit union, with SBA loan collection experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

Deep knowledge of FDCPA, FCRA, bankruptcy, foreclosure, and SBA SOP

Strong computer and Excel skills; experience with automated collection systems
