Are you a New York-licensed attorney with experience in financial services law or regulatory compliance? This is your opportunity to play a pivotal legal role within a globally recognized financial institution. We’re looking for a proactive and skilled Legal Counsel to join our team in New York and provide critical legal guidance in a dynamic international banking environment.
What You’ll Do
As Legal Counsel, you’ll work at the heart of our U.S. operations, providing expert legal support across a wide range of issues, including:

Legal Risk Oversight: Manage branch-wide legal risk and maintain the Legal Risk Management Policy to ensure compliance and mitigate potential threats.

Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and analyze changes in local and federal banking regulations, ensuring our business stays compliant and ahead of regulatory trends.

Legal Advisory & Research: Provide clear, actionable legal advice to business leaders and stakeholders based on sound legal research and risk assessment.

Litigation & Response: Handle subpoenas, legal claims, and regulatory inquiries efficiently and effectively.

U.S. Banking Law Support: Partner with Head Office to address legal issues tied to U.S. banking regulations and policies.

External Counsel Management: Work directly with outside legal advisors to support complex legal and regulatory matters.

Contract Review: Draft and review third-party agreements, and provide legal opinions that support sound business decisions.

Cross-functional Collaboration: Engage with senior management and business units to ensure legal alignment with strategic goals.
What We’re Looking For

Credentials: Active license to practice law in New York State.

Experience: Minimum 3 years in a legal or compliance role, preferably within a law firm or financial institution.

Language Skills: Bilingual fluency in Mandarin Chinese is highly preferred due to frequent coordination with Head Office and Chinese-speaking counterparts.

Communication & Judgment: Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to assess risk and communicate legal advice clearly to non-legal stakeholders.
