Corporate Counsel Bilingual Mandarin
(located in Manhattan with a growing bank)
This position will report to and work with the Legal Counsel on a wide range of legal issues such as banking regulatory issues, loan documentation review, investment advisory regulations. You
will interact with our Front Office & Back Office and other personnel within the branch, facilities communication, process and prioritize legal requests, all while muti-tasking and
performing a broad variety of ad-hoc projects when needed as well as meeting a strict timelines.
A. Structuring, negotiation and documentation drafting/review for the relevant coverage
areas, primarily in corporate finance and trade finance.
B. Assist Legal Counsel on regulatory issues relating to the Branch’s new initiatives, especially in investment advisory, securities regulation and draft legal opinions.
C. Assist in developing and maintaining policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance with Dodd-Frank Act and other new regulations, including but not limited to
checking procedures related to the Volcker Rule and Title VII.
D. Participate in meetings with other departments, Head Office for various projects.
E. Development and maintenance of efficient and effective relationships with outside counsels.
F. Keep abreast of the new regulations promulgated/issued by US Regulators or Agencies.
G. Work on other projects as assigned by Legal Counsel.
A. JD or LLM degree. Admitted to practice in New York.
B. 4 years of experience in corporate finance and/or securities regulations (including time
spent with a law firm or as in-house counsel to a financial institution).
C. Bilingual (English and Mandarin) written and oral communication skills.
D. Excellent interpersonal skills, business judgment and superior work ethic.
E. Able to prioritize and multi-task; demonstrate flexibility and acceptability.
