Senior Risk Analyst
The Senior Risk Analyst is responsible for supporting the chief Risk and Compliance Officer in the development and implementation of risk management frameworks, policies, and processes to drive a proactive and consistent risk management culture across the organization.
This position provides support to the Chief Risk and Compliance Officer in providing oversight of risk management and monitoring and ensuring the Division operates within the approved risk appetite. This position will assist in overseeing all areas of risk, including credit, operational, market, liquidity, reputation, and strategic risks. This role will assist in the development and implementation of risk management frameworks, policies, and processes to drive a proactive and consistent risk management culture across the organization.
The role is a supervisory role with responsibility for supervising other Risk Management Analysts.
Specific Functions & Accountabilities:
- Assist the CRCO in overseeing the Risk Management function.
- Manage the development and implementation of an enterprise risk management framework to support proactive identification of risks and effective risk management strategies.
- The development, implementation and application of risk indicators, metrics and methodologies and regular risk exposure monitoring and reporting. Responsible for documenting and reporting risk policy exceptions to risk
- Continuously review risk controls to ensure controls are effective and minimize risks to align with the bank’s risk appetite.
- Provide risk advisory to stakeholders on projects, products and organizational initiatives including supporting the identification and effective management of risk and promoting forward risk planning.
- Develop, monitor, review and report on risk assessments and provide guidance and support to stakeholders in managing risk effectively to drive high quality outcomes and ensure actions are appropriate for identified risks.
- Provide risk management training and coaching to staff to proactively drive the risk management culture, develop organizational capability and ensure staff implement best practice approaches.
- Support the development of risk management tools, policies, processes, and procedures.
- Assist in overseeing the quantitative analysis supporting the risk appetite statement.
- Assist in developing and proposing risk limits and identify and communicate out-of-tolerance risk positions and emerging issues.
- Incorporating changes to laws, regulations, and regulatory guidance to ensure organizational approach to risk management remains current.
- Remain abreast of regulatory requirements and ensure compliance.
Qualifications, Skills, & Experience:
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Mathematics, or a related discipline is typically required.
- A masters degree (such as an MBA) or professional certifications (e.g., FRM, PRM, CFA, CRMP) preferred.
- Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative analysis is essential.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to identify potential risks, analyze root causes, and propose effective solutions.
- Familiarity with relevant industry regulations and compliance standards.
- Minimum of 10 years of direct experience in risk management roles.
- A strong background in managing different types of risks, such as credit risk, operational risk, market risk, liquidity risk, and regulatory risk.
- Experience in assessing the probability and potential impact of various risks, as well as evaluating risk tolerance levels.
- Proven ability to develop and implement risk mitigation strategies, including policies, procedures, and controls.
- Proficiency in data analysis, statistical techniques, and risk modeling tools to assess and quantify risks.
