We are looking for someone that can “take a deal from start to finish.” This means the person is able to source their own CRE and C&I loans & deposits (primarily from LA and Orange Counties and the Inland Empire), work with our Team Lead on structuring, pricing and underwriting loan requests, preparing credit memos, presenting credit recommendations, monitoring approved loans through funding, and managing a portfolio of CRE and C&I loans.
We are seeking candidates with five years underwriting experience. At least a portion of their experience needs to be with community banks. We are OK with an experienced underwriter with limited BD experience that can manage a loan portfolio, but not a business development person that is not able to analyze and underwrite credit.
Our Team Lead has already assembled a team of two other lenders and is looking for someone with the right qualification and personal characteristics that will fit with the group. A qualified candidate will be asked to perform a timed underwriting skills assessment that takes about 45 minutes. This is essentially an evaluation of financial information for the purposes of determining whether a loan request should be considered and under what structure, terms and pricing. They will be evaluated on their ability to verbally present their findings and recommendations. We will consider a Relationship Manager position for a skilled underwriter with at least five years of business development experience.
