Chief Credit Officer
GREAT OPPORTUNITY! Located in Manhattan with a growing bank!

In this role you will:

  •  Be responsible for the overall quality and profitability of the loan portfolio;
  • Lead a credit approval team that exercises authority for approval of loans up to the Bank’s house limit. 
  • Oversees the development and monitoring of lending policies and practices. Ensures that lending activities are in compliance with regulatory requirements;
  • Articulates the Bank’s credit policies and practices and provides the interpretation of same in relation to current economic conditions, the political climate, the Bank’s liquidity position, and its current business strategy;
  • Prepares monthly and quarterly lending activity and portfolio condition reports for Board of Directors, committees and regulatory agencies;
  • Participate in the coordination of the marketing of the Bank, especially credit generation and business development;
  • Implement training programs on credit administration and the approval process;
  • Chair Credit Risk Management Committee;
  • Co-chair Compliance and BSA/AML & OFAC Committee with Risk Officer;
  • Support the CEO in the development, analysis and interpretation of credit information for profit planning to appraise operating results in terms of costs, budgets, policies of operations, trends, and increased profit possibilities. 
  • Requirements:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, related field and at least 20+ years of increasingly diverse or complex applications in finance;
  • MBA and/or significant experience in a consumer and commercial credit environment are strongly preferred;
  • Understanding of local (NY/tri-state) region in regards to CRE and C&I;
  • Deep understanding of credit and regulatory reporting;
  • Ability to form effective relationships and achieve influence at the most senior level in the organization and with external regulators;
  • Communication and interpersonal skills, including the capacity to articulate the case for sound credit practices in the language of business;
  • Established financial and credit acumen;
  • Understand and interpret complex business and regulatory requirements;
  • Ability to make robust/tough decisions, which may be contrary to the businesses wishes;
  • Working across all levels of the organization to understand cross-functional linkages and interdependencies, as well as the implications of risk and regulations at both a strategic level and at the business unit level;
  • Proven ability to prioritize competing demands;
  • Demonstrated ability to assess credit and risk trends, both internally and externally;
  • Strong leadership and management ability, developing and motivating direct reports;
